Marvel's new film 'Ant-Man and The Wasp' will be released on February 17

 




American films, which are increasingly finding audiences in smaller towns, are filling the need for large format cinemas in such places.

Marvel's new superhero film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania will be released in theaters on February 17, 2023. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the sequel to Ant-Man (2015). Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and the 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Peyton Reed, and stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as well as Jonathan Majors, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Kathryn Newton, David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Katy O'Brien and Bill Murray.

A strong slate of films in the second half of the year after back-to-back hits like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder helped Hollywood retain its share of the Indian box office last year.

Trade experts said American films, which are increasingly finding audiences in smaller towns, are driving the need for large-format cinemas in places where younger audiences follow franchises and characters closely.

In 2019, Hollywood films earned ₹1,250 crore–₹1,300 crore in India out of a total of ₹4,400 crore made by theatrical releases in all languages. Hollywood has also made a better comeback than Hindi films in the post-pandemic era. Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned over ₹218 cr upon its release in India last December, Hollywood has given hits like The Batman (₹48.10 cr), Doctor Strange (₹130 cr), Top Gun: Maverick (₹34.50 Cr), Jurassic World Dominion (₹68.56 Cr) and Thor: Love and Thunder (₹101.71 Cr) in the last few months.
