To boost the quality of education at the school level, the Government of Karnataka has allowed Pre-University Courses (PUC) from the next academic year. PUC courses will be offered in residential schools run by the state government.

"Start pre-university colleges from next year in those schools which have completed 10 years and the students are 10th," Bommai said after inaugurating the 'Science Expo-2023' of the Karnataka Residential Education Institutions Society (KREIS) at the Palace. are in class." The grounds here

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that all residential schools will also have to conduct competitive examinations to prepare students for the challenges after completing their education and going out in search of jobs.

CM Bommai directed the Social Welfare Department to give up the trend of spending money on construction of school buildings only to satisfy the contractors. Instead, the focus should be on improving the quality of education.

"We spend thousands of crores of rupees on these institutions. We are spending more on buildings and compound walls," Bommai said. Bommai said, "Stop paying contractors. Change that model."

According to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, the expenditure on construction of schools started with ₹5 crore, increased to ₹10 crore and ₹14 crore and now it has reached a level where the government spends ₹30 crore on each school . The Chief Minister said, "Spend Rs 30 crore on arrangements (facilities) for the children. On one hand the government money is going out and on the other hand necessary arrangements are not being made for the children."

Bommai accused the previous governments of spending money on building schools instead of improving the quality of education.

According to Bommai, "quality education will not continue" if students have to attend different schools after completing class 10 as competitive examinations for them begin after they complete their pre-university education. Hence, the students will have to continue their PUC education from the same residential school, he said. The Chief Minister said, "Conduct competitive examinations among the children in these schools. We have provided them an equal opportunity to find out the shortcomings in the children, so that it can be rectified and their potential can be enhanced."
