India records 134 Covid cases in a single day; Active cases come down to 1,962

India's COVID-19 case tally rose by 134 in a day, while the number of active cases dropped to 1,962, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

So far 4.46 crore Covid cases have been registered in India. The death toll stood at 5,30,728 in the figures updated at 8 am.

The daily positivity was recorded at 0.07 per cent while the weekly positivity was 0.08 per cent. Active cases now comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.80 per cent, according to the health ministry's website.

There has been a decrease of 36 cases in the number of active cases in 24 hours. The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 4,41,48,815, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry's website, 220.20 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far in the country under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October. It crossed 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.

India had crossed the grim milestone of 30 million on 23rd June last year and 40 million on 25th January this year.
