-4 degree Celsius: Meteorologist warns that North India is heading for severe cold this week

 



• Severe cold wave has engulfed the entire North Indian region


Another bad news is coming for North India. The temperature is likely to drop in large parts of the region, which is already in the grip of severe cold. ANI reported that a weather expert has predicted the temperature to drop to -4 degree Celsius in the plains next week.


Navdeep Dahiya, founder of Live Weather of India, has tweeted that it is going to be cold between 14th to 19th January and it is likely to be at its peak from 16th to 18th January.

Meanwhile, severe cold wave continued to grip the entire north Indian region, with Delhi's Safdarjung recording a minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius at 8.30 am. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, visibility in Palam area was recorded at 500 metres, while it was 200 meters in Safdarjung.


The national capital, which has been battling some of the coldest days in its history for the past one week, witnessed another cold and foggy day on Thursday.


Dense to very dense fog was observed over parts of Punjab, northwest Rajasthan, Jammu division, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Tripura.


The India Meteorological Department tweeted, "Due to the existing Western Disturbance and consequent strong surface winds, fog conditions have significantly improved over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and West UP. However, dense to very dense fog cover over East continues in UP and Bihar." ,


On Thursday, sources said that due to dense fog, many trains running from New Delhi railway station were running late.
