• The West Bengal government issued a notification declaring 26 December as a public holiday.

The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government issued a notification declaring December 26, Monday, as a public holiday, according to news agency ANI.

In a detailed notification, the state government said, "In continuation of this department's notification number 3640-F(P2) dated November 26, 2021, the governor declares the next day on December 26, 2022 (Monday) as a holiday." For the offices of the State Government, local bodies, statutory bodies, boards, corporations and undertakings controlled or owned by the State Government, educational institutions, other offices/institutions under the control of the Government of West Bengal with the exception of the offices of the Registrar of Assurances Christmas, Kolkata and Stump Revenue Collector, Kolkata".
