Steep decline in Covid cases in India; Further decline in active cases



Active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.80 per cent, according to the ministry's website.


India has registered a sharp decline in Covid cases with 165 new infections being reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Tuesday. This drop in cases comes a day after the country reported 226 cases.


With this the active cases further reduced to 4,345. The total number of Covid cases in the country now stand at 4.46 crore.


The death toll has risen to 5,30,633 with Kerala reporting two deaths and Delhi one in the last 24 hours, data updated at 8 am showed.

A decrease of 89 cases has been registered in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.


The number of people who have been cured of the disease increased to 4,41,38,805, while the death rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.


Under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign, 219.94 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been given so far in the country.


India's COVID-19 tally crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October. Crossed 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.


The country crossed the critical mark of two crore on May 4 last year and three crore on June 23. It crossed the four crore mark on January 25 this year.
