Serbia issues special postage stamp to mark 75 years of Indian independence

 




• Serbia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a tweet also announced the publication of a special postage stamp to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence.


In a unique gesture, Serbia has released a dedicated postage stamp to mark the completion of seventy-five years of India's independence. The Post of Serbia released a dedicated postage stamp to mark 75 years of India's freedom and independence as a celebration of the 'Amrit Mahotsav of Independence'.


A special event was organized by the PTT Museum and Zoran Djordjevic, Acting Director of the Serbian Post, handed over the stamp to Ambassador Mr. Sanjeev Kohli in the presence of Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.


The first DYPM said in his statement that 75 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and the erstwhile Yugoslavia and the friendship between the two countries is getting stronger.

The Ambassador noted that both the countries share a special relationship and rejoice in each other's success and stand by each other in difficult times. Djordjevic remarked that the great friendship with India was unblemished and it was only logical for the Post of Serbia to issue a dedicated stamp as it wanted to honor a great friend and ally.


It is pertinent to note here that the Government of India has launched the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative to mark 75 years of independence and the glorious history of the country's people, culture and achievements. Notably, the official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav began on 12 March, which began a 75-week countdown to the 75th anniversary of independence and will end a year later on 15 August 2023.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia in a tweet also announced the publication of a special postage stamp to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence. Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic stressed that the two nations will mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2023.


Serbia's Foreign Ministry tweeted, "#Serbia's Post Office released a special stamp today to honor the 75th anniversary of #India's independence. DPM/FM #Desic informs that next year Serbia and India 7[? ] diplomatic relations, which are marked by traditional friendship."


Serbia's foreign ministry said in a statement that India and Serbia have traditionally enjoyed "very good and friendly relations", based on close ties established at the time of the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement. It added that the two countries share common views on a number of international issues and have a mutual interest in strengthening political dialogue and improving cooperation in policy areas.
