Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abdul Rashid's property attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda

The property of absconding Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abdul Rashid alias "Jahangir" in Doda was attached by the Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Saturday. A senior police officer said Abdul Rashid is operating from across the Line of Control and trying to revive militancy.


Land measuring over four kanals in Khanpura village of Thathri in Doda district was attached by a joint team of revenue and police officials under relevant sections of the CrPC on the orders of a judicial magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Abdul Qayoom told news agency told PTI.


He said that the police is in the process of initiating action against other local terrorists, who have infiltrated into Pakistan and through virtual mode or social media, are trying to encourage youths to join terror activities and revive militancy in the district. have been


The SSP said Rashid had gone to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 1993 and returned after receiving arms training with the intention of carrying out subversive activities.


"After infiltrating from Pakistan, he remained active along with other dreaded and hardcore terrorists and was found involved in several attacks on civilians and security forces besides incidents of arson and blasts in the district.


"Besides, many local youths were instigated and recruited into militancy by him," the official said.


He said that another terrorist commander Mohammad Amin alias "Khubaib" of Thathri was initially inspired and recruited by Rashid.


"Amin is also currently operating from Pakistan and is making desperate efforts to revive militancy in Chenab Valley - Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Jammu region.


He had masterminded several terrorist incidents in the recent past including IED blasts, drone downing and arms smuggling.


Both Rashid and Amin carried out their infiltration into Pakistan a decade ago and were declared proclaimed offenders by a local court.


The official said several FIRs were registered against him in various police stations of Doda and other districts of Jammu region.
