LIC launches WhatsApp services: Know how to avail the listed services

For policyholders, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced its first "WhatsApp Services". LIC of India Chairman Shri M.R. Kumar introduced some of the company's interactive services to policyholders through WhatsApp. By texting "Hi" to the mobile number 8976862090, policyholders who have registered their policies on the LIC portal will be able to access the services listed on WhatsApp from the comfort of their homes. The following screen will also assist the policyholders in doing the same.

How to activate LIC WhatsApp services?

LIC has said in a press release that "policyholders who have registered their policies on the LIC portal will be able to access these services on WhatsApp." From their registered mobile number, policyholders should text 'Hi' to mobile number 8976862090. The following screen will assist the policyholders to access the above services, out of which they can choose the desired service by selecting one of the options.

How to Register for LIC Online Services?

The following items should be kept in hand by the policyholders to register for the online services available through the LIC portal: Policy Number for your own life and the life of any minor children, Installment premiums (full payment but excluding Service Tax or GST), Scanned copy of Passport or PAN Card with file size less than 100 KB.

1. Go to www.licindia.in and go to the option "Customer Portal".

2. Click on "New User" if you have not registered for the Customer Portal earlier

3. You need to choose your User ID and Password and then submit on the next screen.

4. Log in using this newly generated User ID, then select "Add Policy" under "Basic Services".

5. Now enroll all your remaining policies, at which time your registered policies will be able to access all the basic services.

6. When you register as an LIC portal user, your basic information like date of birth, phone number and email address will be automatically added to the registration form.

Comparing the half year ending September 30, 2021 with the half year ending September 30, 2022, LIC saw a growth of 23.87% or ₹2,30,456 crore in total premium income. Profit after tax (PAT) increased from Rs. 1,437 crore for the half year ending September 30, 2021. 16,635 crore for the half year ending September 30, 2022. For the six months ending September 30, 2022, the total premium, calculated on the basis of Annualized Premium Equivalent (APE), was ₹25,228 crore. Individual business contributed ₹14,643 crore (58.04%) to this total, while group business contributed ₹10,585 crore (41.96%). On an APE basis, the percentage of cross products in the individual business was 91.01%, and non-cross products made up the remaining 8.99%. The individual segment sold a total of 83,59,029 policies for the half year ended September 30, 2022, up 13.55% from the same six-month period last year, when 73,61,410 policies were sold. As on September 30, 2022, the Assets Under Management (AUM) grew from ₹39,50,633 crore to ₹42,93,778 crore, showing a growth of 8.69% year-on-year.
