A restaurant owner in Madhya Pradesh's Indore has been booked for serving non-vegetarian food to a customer who had ordered a vegetarian dish, an official said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sampat Upadhyay said that the action against Swapnil Gujarati, owner of Alba Baristo restaurant, was taken on the complaint of his customer Akash Dubey.
The police officer said that Dubey ordered vegetarian biryani at the eatery on Monday night and while he was eating it, he discovered bones in the dish. Dubey informed the waiter and hotel staff and they apologized for the mistake, he said.
After this, he lodged a complaint with the police that his religious sentiments were hurt by the incident. The DCP said that a case has been registered against the owner of the restaurant, Gujarati, under Indian Penal Code section 298 (hurting religious sentiments). Further legal action will be taken after the completion of the investigation, he added.
