IMD predicts cold wave, dense fog in these 4 states till December 21

 


• The weather agency has also predicted a drop in temperature in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh during the next 3 days


The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast cold wave conditions in the northern part of India including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, western parts of Haryana and northern Rajasthan during the next 4 days.


As winter sets in in various parts of the country, the weather agency has said that dense fog will prevail over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Tripura during the next 2 days.

In its forecast issued on Saturday afternoon, the weather agency said that the depression over the west-central Arabian Sea is now located west-northwest of Aminidivi (Lakshadweep). The low pressure area would persist during the next 12 hours.


The IMD has also warned that the sea condition will be rough during the next 12 hours.


In addition, wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely. It will decrease during next 6 hours and become 25-35 kmph during subsequent 12 hours.

The low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining east equatorial Indian Ocean lies over this region today, December 17 at 8:30 AM. It is very likely to move westwards over south Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

The sea condition is likely to be rough over South Andaman Sea and adjoining North Andaman Sea during 17 to 19 December.

A gradual drop in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C very likely over many parts of Interior Maharashtra, South Gujarat region and South Madhya Pradesh during next 3 days with no significant change thereafter.
