Health Minister holds review meeting amid Covid surge in China; Active cases in India are 3408

 


Central health authorities have asked states and union territories to undertake genome sequencing of positive samples and track variants of the virus through the government's COVID network.

New Delhi: India reported 131 fresh Covid infections in the last 24 hours, pulling down the country's active caseload to 3,408, according to Union health ministry data on Wednesday. Total reported cases stand at 4,46,76,330, and the death toll stands at 530,680.

As of now, Karnataka has 1,272 active cases, Kerala has 1,436 cases, Maharashtra has 132 active cases, Odisha has 98 cases, Rajasthan has 53 cases, Tamil Nadu has 47, Uttar Pradesh has 95 and West Bengal has 43 active cases.

India has conducted more than 1,15,734 tests in the last 24 hours.

So far, more than 220 crore vaccine doses have been given to people across the country under the Covid vaccination campaign. In the last 24 hours, around 53,872 doses were administered.
