According to a Hindustan Times report, women cadets have opted for the crisp crew haircut for ease of training and to better fit into the armed forces. It should be noted that there is no such order for women with short hair in this academy.

Other training academies have their own rules about how women should wear their hair. For example, short hair is mandatory except for Sikh cadets at the Officers' Training Academy in Chennai.

At the Air Force Academy at Dundigal near Hyderabad and the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, women have no right to keep short hair.
