Delhi: Over 100 flights affected due to dense fog

 

Weather Update: Poor visibility has been affecting the northern parts of the country for the last few days, once again the flight was disrupted on Wednesday.

According to news agency ANI, over 100 flights were disrupted in Delhi as severe cold conditions accompanied by a thick layer of fog enveloped the city again on Wednesday.

Speaking to ANI, a Delhi airport official said, "Due to bad weather (fog) since three days, more than 100 flights reported delayed and grounded at Delhi airport, some even diverted to nearest airport." Has been sent."

Poor visibility, which has been affecting the northern parts of the country for the past few days, again disrupted flights on Wednesday.

According to the official, another reason behind the flight delay is that some airlines have still not deployed their CAT-III-compliant pilots.

On Tuesday, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) advised passengers to check their flight status with the airline concerned as flight operations at the Delhi airport were only for CAT-III compliant ones.

In an official statement, DIAL said, "While landing and take-off at Delhi airport continues, flights that are not CAT-III compliant may be affected. Passengers are requested to check with the concerned airline for updated flight information." Contact."

The CAT-III Instrument Landing System (ILS) allows flights to land safely in low visibility. Cat III-B ILS allows aircraft to land with a runway visual range (RVR) of up to 50 m with a decision height of 15 m.

Hundreds of commuters were inconvenienced due to the disruption. Vistara, SpiceJet and IndiGo also expressed regret for the delays and diversions on Tuesday.

IndiGo had said, "Early morning fog in Delhi has caused huge delays across the network. We are trying our best to minimize inconvenience."

However, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the duration and intensity of fog has reduced significantly over North India. The Met office has also predicted that dense fog and cold wave conditions will rise again from December 31.
