Delhi Metro timings on MCD election day: Elections for 250 wards to be held on Sunday, December 4 from 8 am to 5:30 pm

New Delhi: On the day of civic elections to be held on December 4, Metro service will start at all terminal stations on all lines of Delhi Metro from 4 am.

"On the day of Municipal Corporation of Delhi Elections on December 04, 2022 (Sunday), Delhi Metro train services on all lines will commence from 04:00 AM from all terminal stations. Trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes from 06:00 AM on all lines till 6:00 a.m. After 6:00 a.m., Metro trains will run as per normal Sunday timetable throughout the day." DMRC said in a statement.

Campaigning for the high-profile MCD polls will end today, and leaders of political parties will make a last-ditch effort to campaign.

There have been frequent scuffles between AAP and BJP workers during the campaign for the MCD elections.

Voting for 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is to be held on Sunday, December 4 from 8 am to 5:30 pm. The counting of votes will take place on December 7.

This will be the first municipal body election in the national capital after the delimitation of wards. Both the BJP and the AAP have fielded 250 candidates, while the Congress will contest only 247 seats.

The BJP has ruled the MCD for 15 years and is seeking to come to power for the fourth time.

Meanwhile, the sale of liquor will remain prohibited for three days from today ahead of the MCD elections in the national capital. The ban will be in place from 5.30 pm today till December 4. After this, the ban will be imposed again on December 7, the day the votes are to be counted.

"From 17:30 hours (Friday) of 2nd December 2022 (Friday) to 17:30 hours (Sunday) of 4th December 2022 and from 00:00 hours (24:00 hours) of 7th December 2022 on account of MCD election in NCT of Delhi According to an official statement from the Excise Department, 2022 (Wednesday) will be observed as dry days.
