Delhi Election Commission is preparing for MCD elections? read here

 




The elections to the 250-ward MCD are witnessing a fierce contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which currently holds the reins of civic bodies in the national capital, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), apart from the Congress.

The Delhi State Election Commission has started preparations for the MCD elections to be held tomorrow, Sunday, December 4. A total of 13,638 polling stations have been set up for the civic polls in the national capital.

In an official statement, the State Election Commission said that a large task force of election officials and security agencies have made enormous efforts to make necessary preparations for conducting the elections at 13,638 polling stations spread across Delhi, according to news agency ANI.

In addition, 68 Model Polling Stations and 68 Pink Polling Stations have also been set up for quality voter experience. Adequate arrangements have been made for the deployment of the force.

The commission said it has made elaborate arrangements for a "safe, secure and enjoyable" polling experience. These measures are needed to keep the electoral field open and ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates, reports ANI.

It has prohibited the conduct of opinion polls or any other election survey in any media, including electronic, in connection with the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi from 5:30 pm on 2 December to 5:30 pm on 4 December.

As per the instructions issued by the Commission on the Model Code of Conduct in respect of civic body elections, the display and dissemination of any election material to the public is prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll. ,

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police is also working round the clock to ensure there is no law and order situation on polling day on Sunday, a police officer said.

Speaking to ANI, Dipendra Pathak, Special Commissioner of Police, (Law & Order), Zone-1, said, "Delhi Police is fully prepared for the MCD elections. We have made security arrangements keeping in mind every small detail." There will be 3 different types of security deployment in 3 phases, pre-poll, during poll and post-poll."

He said, "Intelligence wing of Delhi Police is working with special branches and central agencies. Minute-to-minute policing is being done and we are working round the clock to prevent law and order situation and conduct free and fair elections." are doing."

Special CP (Law & Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said that all arrangements regarding security and surveillance have been made by the Delhi Police for the MCD elections.

Hooda told ANI, "The Delhi Police's arrangements are adequate. A total of 30,000 personnel will be on duty, of which 16,000 will be Delhi Police personnel and the rest will be from outside forces."

The top official said Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel and home guards would also be deployed. He further said that the security forces would keep vigil with the help of drones and about four to five drones have been deployed in each district.
