Covid-19: India sees rise in daily cases, records 201 new infections in 24 hours

 




COVID-19 Update: The death toll stands at 5,30,691, out of which one death has been reported by Kerala.


Covid-19 cases in India witnessed a spike with the reporting of 201 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 4.46 crore, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Saturday.


With this, the country's active caseload has also gone up to 3,397. Active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections. An increase of 17 has been registered in the number of active COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours.


According to the data updated by the ministry at 8 am, the death toll in Kerala is 5,30,691.


Daily positivity was recorded at 0.15 per cent and weekly positivity was 0.14 per cent. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80 per cent.


The ministry said that a total of 90.97 crore tests have been conducted so far for the detection of COVID-19, of which 1,36,315 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.


The number of people who recovered from the disease increased to 4,41,42,791, while the death rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.


Till date, India has recorded 4.46 crore (4,46,76,879) Covid-18 cases.


According to the ministry's website, 220.04 crore doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered so far in the country under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign.


India's Covid-19 tally crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October. Crossed 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December, 2020.


The country crossed the milestone of two crore cases on May 4, 2021, three crore on June 23 and four crore on January 25 this year.
