Chaos at Delhi airport, flight of passengers missed

• Passengers said that they had to wait for two to three hours at the evacuation area before the final departure of the flight.

There was chaos at the IGI airport in the national capital Delhi on Saturday and passengers took to Twitter to share their ordeal. Several netizens tweeted pictures of Delhi airport's Terminal 3, where long queues can be seen during security checkpoints. Besides, disorganized checking in and overcrowding in lounges showed the laxity of the airport authorities. IGIA, also the largest airport in the country, has three terminals – T1, T2 and T3. All international flights and some domestic services operate from T3. Passengers said they had to wait for two to three hours at the evacuation area before the final departure of the flight.

Consequently, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has started discussions with domestic airlines to address the overall congestion at Delhi airport.

Yesterday, senior officials of the Ministry visited Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to inspect passenger movement and baggage check posts, among other aspects. Officials said discussions are also on with airlines to reduce the number of flights during peak hours at the three terminals. He said that efforts are being made to start 14 flights at T3, 11 at T2 and 8 at T1 during these hours.

Delhi airport is just crazy... It looks like a fish market, sloppy queues at every level and uncooperative @airvistara staff

They didn't let me board the flight even though I reached 1.5 hours before
