'An employee, not your servant': Indigo air hostess' altercation with passenger goes viral

What can be understood from this is that the issue was about the choice of food.

Anger was seen in the air between a crew member and a passenger on Indigo's Istanbul flight to Delhi and the air hostess said, "I am not your servant sir." What can be understood from this is that the issue was about the choice of food.

Apparently, in the video the air hostess can be seen saying, "You are pointing fingers at me and shouting at me. My crew is crying because of you. Please try to understand, there is a cart and the numbered meals are above (in the plane). We can only serve your boarding"

The passenger replies 'But why are you shouting at me.'

To this the woman replies, because you are shouting at us. I am an employee, not your servant sir.

The incident received mixed reactions from netizens.

The customers, one said, do not understand that this is a low-cost carrier, whatever uplift is offered is very limited, yet they disrespect the staff and treat them like their servants. Respect is always a "give and take". Kudos to the crew for taking a stand for themselves and the team.

However, CCs are trained to defuse situations. Losing your temper is a no-no in a customer-facing role. Another says she should have called the flight purser and if Pax was more disruptive, should have informed security before landing and put her on the no-fly list.

The third person responds by saying that stress cannot always be reduced. It is necessary to give a befitting reply and this girl has given it well. Remember, we Indians are an unruly bunch, be it train, bus, plane or wherever! We can't use SOP - Trained to reduce stress

IndiGo responded to the incident and said that their crew leadership on the flight had to intervene as the passenger in question had shown "bad behaviour" and "insulted" one of the flight attendants. The airline reportedly further stated that the incident was related to "meals selected by some passengers traveling via codeshare connections".

IndiGo said, "We are looking into the incident and would like to assure that customer convenience has always been our top priority."
