• Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, who is the jury chief of IFFI 2022, has called director Vivek Agnihotri's film 'The Kashmir Files' as a 'propaganda, obscene film'
Israel's Ambassador to India Nour Gillon launched a scathing attack on her compatriot and filmmaker Nadav Lapid for calling "The Kashmir Files" "propaganda" and "obscene" at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
“An open letter to #NadavLapid after his criticism of #KashmirFiles. It is not in Hebrew because I wanted our Indian brothers and sisters to understand it. It's also relatively long so I'll give you the bottom line first. Shame on you Here's why," Nor Gillon tweeted.

In a series of tweets, the Israeli envoy said he was pained to see this.
In Indian culture it is said that guest is like God. You have abused the trust, respect & warm hospitality they have extended to you as well as the Indian invitation to chair the panel of judges at @IFFIGoa," he tweeted.
"The friendship between the peoples and states of India and Israel is very strong and will survive the damage you have done. As a human being I am ashamed and want to apologize to our hosts for the bad way in which we treated them Paid for their generosity and friendship," Gillon said.
My suggestion. Feel free to use that freedom to criticize what you dislike in Israel, as you have vocally done in the past, but no need to project your frustration on other countries. I am not sure you have sufficient factual basis." to make such a comparison. I know I don't," he said.
kashmir files controversy
IFFI jury chief Nadav Lapid on Monday termed the film 'Kashmir Files' as 'propaganda, obscene' at the closing ceremony of the film festival. His comment which has since gone viral has invited widespread criticism.
Talking about the controversy, a video of the festival went viral on social media in which Nadav is seen making controversial comments about the film. “I want to thank the head of ceremonies and the director of programming for the cinematic richness of the program, for its diversity, for its complexity. It was intense. We saw seven films in the debutante competition, and 15 films in the international competition, The front window of the festival. 14 of them had cinematic qualities, defaults and led to vivid discussions," he said in his speech.
“We were all disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files. It felt like a propaganda, pornographic film, inappropriate for an artistically competitive section of such a prestigious film festival. I am here to share these feelings with you. I feel completely comfortable sharing openly." At this stage. In the spirit of this festival, we can surely also acknowledge an important discussion that is essential for art and life," he added.
Soon after, netizens took to the micro-blogging site to slam Nadav.
'The Kashmir Files' was screened as a part of the Indian Panorama section at IFFI on 22 November.
Israel's Consul General in the Midwest, Kobbi Shoshani, expressed her contrasting views on the film.
He said that he had seen the film and had a different opinion about it.
He took to Twitter and wrote, "I saw the Kashmir file and met the artists. I have a different opinion than Nadav Lapid. After his speech, I told my opinion to Nadav. @vivekagnihotri".
'The Kashmir Files' released in cinemas earlier this year and told the story of the Hindu exodus and the targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.
The film became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2022 and Anupam Kher was praised for his performance.
