Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday announced that his party has decided not to be a part of the current political system and will resign from all assemblies. According to news agency ANI, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan was addressing the party's power show in Rahmanabad.
Currently, Imran Khan's PTI is in power in Punjab, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that his party has decided not to go to Islamabad to prevent any mayhem or anarchy.
The PTI chief also said that he would soon meet his chief ministers and parliamentary party over the matter and announce when the party would leave the assemblies.
Earlier, Pakistan's Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah asked Imran Khan to suspend the Long March and return to Parliament for the country's progress and also warned of a possible terror threat, reports ANI.
Imran Khan has resumed his protest march towards Islamabad after recovering from an apparent assassination attempt earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Sanaullah claimed that Imran's PTI would not be able to dissolve the Punjab Assembly as it is set to bring a no-confidence motion. He accepted Imran's decision to leave all the assemblies as correct.
However, Imran Khan has claimed that his party had not come to Rawalpindi for elections or politics, but the country needed fresh elections.
He also said that he did not care about the elections as they would be held in nine months time and his party would win them. He said that the history of the country is witness that he kept fighting till the last ball for Pakistan.
Imran Khan was quoted by ANI as saying, "I also want to say that those who saw a huge increase in their wealth and trampled the rights of the country... History is also looking at them and writing that they have What did you do with it?"
He also alleged that the establishment and the Election Commission of Pakistan had united against him with those in the current government, but had given a loud message to the country that they stand with the PTI.
He said, "I remember what happened in East Pakistan... We didn't do justice to them or Pakistan's biggest political party and we didn't learn anything."
