"Air India is the only airline in the country serving the world for several decades. The representations and images of its crew members are not as per international standards. The new management wants to change the perception of passengers," said several crew members. Member airline told ANI.

Air India's new grooming rules for male and female cabin crew

1) The airline has told the crew that their hair should not be gray and should be dyed natural color regularly.

2) Thumb rings with "religious rings, nose-pins and neck ornaments with colored stones and pearls" are not permitted.

3) "Black and religious thread is strictly not allowed on the wrist, neck and ankle," as per the guidelines.

4) According to the airline, bald looks are allowed for the crew.

5) "Crew must maintain a clean shaven head/bald look with deep receding hairline and male baldness patches. Head must be shaved daily. Crew cut not permitted," it added.

6) Gray hair is not allowed and should be dyed in natural color regularly. "Fashion colors and henna are not allowed".


7) "For male crew, black uniform jacket must be worn in all cabins. (During boarding, service and deplaning). Personal tie pin not permitted. Crew may wear tie without tie pin if issued." Only black calf-length socks without logo should be worn with the uniform. Men should have a neat short haircut with side parting (without volume)," the Air India circular read.

8) Air India asked male crew members to shave daily and apply hair gel compulsorily.

9) According to its latest circular the women crew members should follow the following uniform guidelines, "The apron has been discontinued and cannot be worn. The black blazer with the Indo-Western uniform has also been discontinued and Cannot be worn on board. Calf-length stockings (transparent and matching skin tone are mandatory for flight duty with both saree and Indo western uniform. Company issued black cardigan for boarding and deplaning (only for winter months during) and slack periods on LH and ULH. Flights throughout the year. The cardigan and waistcoat should never be worn together. The cardigan is not permitted during service."

10) It further said that foundation and concealer matching the skin tone are mandatory.

11) "Crew should wear full make-up as per new uniform guidelines for all flight duties using company shade card only. Eyeshadow, lipstick, nail paint and hair shade card should be strictly followed as per uniform. Personal These four products are not allowed in colors.

12) The color of nail paint from the shade card has to be matched with the uniform – red and coral for red uniform, pink and nude with blue uniform, pearly white and French manicure with both uniforms.

13) As per the latest guidelines, gel nail polish and French manicure are allowed with regular refills and should be maintained properly.

14) "Earrings- Only gold and diamond studs in round shape without any design and embellishments are permitted. Pearls are not permitted. Only a small bindi is permitted with a saree (optional) and less than 0.5 cm in size. Should be inside. Bindi of big size is not allowed. Two rings of 1 cm width are acceptable for women team but one should be worn in each hand. 20. Only 1 thin bangle to be worn in gold or silver without designs and stones Can go. 15) "Blonde hair color and streaks are strictly not allowed. Hair must be neat and styled as per company hair guidelines.
