Delhi's air quality remains in 'very poor' category with AQI at 313

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the overall air quality in the national capital remained in the 'very poor' category with an AQI of 313 on Monday morning.

Delhi Airport Terminal fared no better with an AQI of 323 under the 'very poor' category. Similarly, Noida also breathed in the 'poor category' with an AQI of 372. Meanwhile, Gurugram was placed in the 'poor category' with an AQI of 276.

Air Quality Index is a tool for people to effectively understand the status of air quality in an easy to understand way. It converts complex air quality data of various pollutants into a single number (index value), naming and colouring.

An air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered good, while 100 to 200 is moderate, 200 to 300 poor, 300 to 400 very poor, and 400 to 500 or above. considered serious.

Amid poor air quality, the sub-committee held a meeting on November 18 to initiate action under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to be implemented across the NCR as well as under the second phase of GRAP The progress of the works was reviewed. ,

As per the dynamic model and weather/meteorological forecast provided by IMD/IITM, the overall air quality is likely to fluctuate widely between the lower end of 'poor' to 'very poor' categories over the next few days Is. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that the main surface wind in Delhi is expected to come from the North/North-West direction.

The sub-committee of the Commission is closely monitoring the situation and will review the air quality scenario accordingly.
