The firm, Wipro, said it had inducted 14,000 freshers in the first six months of FY22, with a net increase of 600 in headcount for the quarter ended September, 2022. Total headcount at the end of the quarter was 259,179.

During the quarter, we followed a strategy focused on hiring freshers, and we will continue to follow this strategy in the next quarter, Delaport said. Wipro also introduced wage hikes, and promoted 10,000 employees during the quarter.
Wipro has been one of the top companies where campus hiring is facing delays in onboarding.
HCL Tech, which announced its quarterly results today, reported a net growth of 8,359 during the quarter, taking its total to 219,325. The company had added 2,089 employees in the last quarter.
The company added 10,339 freshers during the quarter in line with the plans announced earlier. During Q1, it had added 6,023 freshers. HCL Tech had earlier announced plans to hire 30-35,000 freshers during the financial year. Attrition held steady at 23.8%.
On Monday, India's largest IT exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a net increase of 9,840 employees for the quarter and said it plans to move up to around 10,000 to 12,000 for the rest of the financial year.
TCS said it has inducted 20,000 freshers this quarter and has "honored" all offers made against a larger industry trend of delaying fresher joining due to a weak demand environment. TCS is targeting to hire a total of 45,000-47,000 freshers in the current financial year, of which it has hired 35,000 so far this year.
After a period of industry-wide aggressive talent acquisition in the last fiscal, when industry leaders Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys hired 100,000 and 85,000 people, respectively, and Wipro and HCL Tech hired 19,000 and 23,000 engineers. However, this year the top four IT companies are expected to hire a total of 155,000 freshers by March 2023, marking a decrease of over 30%.
