Taliban claims to have killed four ISIS terrorists including 2 commanders in Afghanistan

According to the Taliban, the slain militants were behind the deadly attack on the Kaj education center and the explosion near the Wazir Muhammad Akbar Khan mosque in Kabul.

The Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, widely celebrated in Pakistan in August last year, has further worsened the terrorist situation in the country.

The Taliban have claimed the lives of four ISIS militants, including two senior commanders in the northeastern Afghan province of Takhar, media reports quoted the Taliban-controlled news agency as saying. Taliban commander Qari Aminullah Tayyib said he found an ISIS hideout in Takhar during a joint operation on Saturday, Khama Press quoted the Bakhtar news agency as saying.

Aminullah said ISIS militants were reportedly killed in a village in the Dashti Kala district of Takhar province. Similarly, in a separate statement on Saturday, the Taliban government claimed to have killed six ISIS members in Kabul on Friday night.

According to the Taliban, the slain militants were behind the deadly attack on the Qaj education center and the explosion near the Wazir Muhammad Akbar Khan mosque in Kabul, Khama Press reports. However, it is noteworthy that the claims of the Taliban are not known. ISIS-K (k stands for Khorasan, the name of a historical region that covered parts of modern-day Afghanistan and Pakistan) has been operating in Afghanistan for the past few years.

It is a branch of ISIS - Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Since its formation in 2015, the terrorist organization has carried out numerous attacks on Afghan civilians and has been blamed for thousands of deaths, CNN reported, citing the Wilson Center, a nonpartisan policy forum.

The Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, widely celebrated in Pakistan in August last year, has further worsened the terrorist situation in the country. In 2021, militants mainly belonging to the Pakistani Taliban killed 48 policemen and injured 44 others in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Most of the violent incidents occurred in the last few months of the year (after the Taliban takeover).

Despite repeated efforts, Pakistan has been unable to obtain a firm guarantee from the Afghan Taliban that they will take action against the Pakistani Taliban operating in Afghanistan.
