The university has deferred the release of the list by a day as the Supreme Court on Wednesday heard St. Stephen's petition against the High Court order. "The court has decided in the right spirit. With respect to the court we delayed the list. We are there for the students. They will not face any problem during the admission. Students need not worry. The admission is conducted as will be scheduled and the session will start from November 2.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay the Delhi High Court order asking St Stephen's College to follow the admission policy laid down by the University of Delhi. The High Court had directed the college to follow the university's admission policy, according to which 100 percent weightage has to be given to the score of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-2022 while admitting non-minority students in undergraduate courses.
However, St. Stephen's College wants to give 85 percent weightage to CUET and 15 percent weightage to interview to admit students of each category. DU started admissions for over 70,000 seats last month. This year, the university is admitting students through CUET scores instead of their class 12 marks. On 12 September, the university released its admission-cum-allocation policy called Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Admission through CSAS is being conducted in three phases - submission of application form, selection of programs and filling of preferences, and seat allotment and admission.
