Rishi Sunak on Monday became Britain's prime minister, who will ever replace his leadership rival Liz Truss as the country faces a dire economic crisis. Former UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak gained the support of his party to become the UK's first Indian-origin prime minister to hold the top post.



Rishi Sunak, born in an Indian family in Southampton, UK, is the son of a pharmacist mother and a National Health Service (NHS) general practitioner father.

Not only this, at the age of 42, Rishi Sunak will be the youngest Prime Minister of Britain in modern history.


The Richmond lawmaker is a year younger than David Cameron - 43 when he took office. Tony Blair was also 43 years old when he became Prime Minister in 1997.


Going back in history- Till 1783, there is only one prime minister younger than Rishi Sunak.


William Pitt the Younger was only 24 when he took on the role.
