Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms Inc., is said to testify in a case by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that the company's proposed deal to buy virtual reality (VR) content creator Within Unlimited should be blocked. .

Facebook had agreed to buy in October 2021 for an undisclosed amount.

In a court document filed with the US District Court for the Northern District of California on Friday, the FTC listed 18 witnesses, including Zuckerberg, CEO Chris Milk and Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth.

They were also on the list of witnesses presented on Friday by defendants Meta and Vidin.

According to the court document, in addition to defending the acquisition, Zuckerberg may also be questioned about Facebook-parenting strategy for its VR business, as well as the company's plans to support third-party developers.

The FTC filed a lawsuit in July saying the acquisition within Meta would "tend to create a monopoly" in the market for VR-dedicated fitness apps.

The regulator argues that the proposed deal would "substantially reduce competition or create a monopoly in that market".

In court documents META argues that "the FTC's findings, speculative, and contradictory allegations do not reasonably request any evidence to establish that VR intentionally constitutes any market behavior or structure for fitness apps." I am 'elite'."

Meanwhile, Rajeev Agarwal, Director and Head of Public Policy, Meta India has said, "It's not like there's going to be a Meta metaverse or an Apple metaverse or a Google metaverse. It's like everyone has to come together, collaborate. And there has to be an openness to come together and build the technology of the future."

Speaking at CyFy 2022, Agarwal had said that it is difficult to imagine what the Metaverse will be like 10 years from now.

"Although as we said maybe we're not really in the Metaverse today, we can see the core technologies that go toward building the Metaverse - clearly the building blocks of the Metaverse."
