Jacqueline Fernandez's interim bail in PMLA case extended till November 10

A Delhi court has extended the interim bail of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez in a ₹200 crore money laundering case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and others.


Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez's interim bail was extended by a Delhi court on Saturday in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and others in a ₹200-crore money laundering case.


Additional Sessions Judge Shailendra Malik said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed its reply on Jacqueline's bail plea during the hearing on regular bail. The court also adjourned the matter till November 10 and extended Jacqueline's temporary bail. The court also ordered the ED to provide copies of the charge sheet and other relevant documents to each of the parties involved in the case.


Actor Jacqueline Fernandez physically participated in Saturday's court proceedings. Jacqueline got a temporary bail order in this case on 26 September.


At the most recent date, the Additional Sessions Judge served notice to the ED regarding Jacqueline's request for regular bail and granted her interim release on a bail bond of ₹50,000.


The Enforcement Directorate had on August 17, 2022 named Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused in a supplementary chargesheet in a Rs 200 crore ransom case against thief Sukesh Chandrasekhar in a Delhi court.


Additionally, the Court ordered the ED to provide copies of the charge sheet to each of the defendants in the present case.


The ED has also summoned Jacqueline Fernandez several times for the purpose of investigation in this case.


Jacqueline's lawyer, Prashant Patil, appeared for her and claimed that she has always co-operated with the investigating officers and has responded to all the summons issued so far. To the best of his ability, he provided all the information to the ED


According to the ED's earlier charge-sheet, Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi allegedly investigated and testified that they received the most expensive BMW vehicles as the most expensive gift of accused Sukesh.


The ED chargesheet clearly states that "during the investigation, the statements of Jacqueline Fernandez were recorded on 30.08.2021 and 20.10.2021. Jacqueline Fernandez said that she received three designer bags from Gucci, Chanel and gym wear." Received gifts from two Gucci outfits. A pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet in multicolored stones, two Hermes bracelet. She also received a Mini Cooper which she returned."


According to the ED, Sukesh had a face-to-face with Jacqueline on October 20, 2021. Jacqueline Fernandez claimed that Sukesh Chandrasekhar had scheduled his hotel stay and private jet travel on various occasions.


Nora Fatehi's statements were recorded on September 12 and October 14, 2021 under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. In them, he claimed that he had been booked for a charity event and that Leena Pauloz (Chandrasekhar's wife) had gifted him an iPhone and a Gucci bag.


Nora said that Lena Pauloze called her husband and put the phone on speaker, during which she thanked him and acknowledged his status as fans. She then announced that they would gift her a new BMW car as a token of love and generosity.
