Indian Railways to launch a month-long mega safety drive today - Here's why

 


The Railway Ministry has directed the Zonal Railways to start a month-long security drive from today.

During this safety drive, Indian Railways will ensure that the existing procedures are being followed and human factors will be monitored.

According to the news agency, the Ministry of Railways has asked the Zonal Railways to launch a month-long security drive from today, October 28 to remove any gaps in the maintenance of immovable properties, locomotives and rolling stock and to strengthen the security on Indian Railways. has been instructed. During this safety drive, Indian Railways will ensure that the existing procedures are being followed and human factors will be monitored.

The Railway Board in an official statement has directed all Zonal Railways to ensure that the officers of Headquarters and Divisions conduct thorough inspections and ensure rectification of deficiencies found during inspection during the drive.

“Each division should have at least one Headquarters Officer on inspection every day during the drive. Also, each major section of each division should be under night foot plate inspection by an officer. All sections of the divisions should be inspected by the DRM. / ADRM. The general health of the immovable properties is to be checked,” the statement read.

It further said that Railway Board's instructions for this mega safety drive include regular patrolling of all tracks and it should be monitored on a day to day basis, surprise checks should be done at stations to ensure proper operating practices are followed; The security system is not being ignored. Along with this, gate, station and other operating staff will be encouraged to be alert.

Meanwhile, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Center has started over 250 special trains for the upcoming Chhath Puja.

Ashwini Vyashnav said, “For Chhath Puja, we have started more than 250 trains. Around 1.4 lakh berths have been provided and we will do whatever is required for the people.”

This comes after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier appealed to the Center to provide special trains for Chhath Puja for those wishing to go to their native places for the festival.
