Billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra shared a Twitter post after Rishi Sunak became the Prime Minister of the UK on October 24. Mahindra has mentioned a quote from Winston Churchill in his post.

"At the pinnacle of Indian independence in 1947, Winston Churchill reportedly said "... Native was anointed as PM of the UK. Life is beautiful," Mahindra wrote on Twitter.

While Mahindra's Twitter post received mostly appreciation, a user reminded him that Sunak is a British national and never held an Indian passport. In addition, he himself is a fan of Churchill.

According to US President Joe Biden, the election of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is "very surprising" and "an unprecedented milestone". The US President said the festival of lights is a reminder that we all have the ability to dispel darkness and bring light to the world, in his remarks at the White House Diwali celebrations on October 24.

This is an option. And we make that choice every day. This is true in our lives and in the lives of this country, especially in the life of democracy, whether it is here in America or in India as families celebrate 75 years of independence."

Biden was speaking to select guests of more than 200 people, including Indian Americans and members of his administration.

In 2020, when Biden chose Indian-origin Kamala Harris as his running partner, he made history. As Vice President of the United States, Harris is now the second most powerful person in the country after the President. She is the first person of Indian origin to hold this position.

"As my brother would say, go figure! And the Conservative Party! (Sanak) is expected to become prime minister, I think, tomorrow when he visits the king. Quite amazing. An unprecedented milestone. And it counts." It matters," Biden said, acknowledging the achievements of the NRI community.
