Indian Railways is running 2,561 trips of 211 special trains (in pairs) till Chhath Puja this year.

Indian Railways is running 2,561 trips of 211 special trains to manage the extra rush of passengers during the festive season.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Center has started more than 250 special trains for the upcoming Chhath Puja.

Ashwini Vyashnav said, “For Chhath Puja, we have started more than 250 trains. Around 1.4 lakh berths have been provided and we will do whatever is required for the people.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday appealed to the Center to provide special trains for Chhath Puja for those wishing to go to their native places for the festival. Bihar appealed to the Ministry of Railways to provide special trains for Chhath Puja.

Notably, to manage the extra rush of passengers in the ongoing festive season, Indian Railways is running 2,561 trips of 211 special trains (in pairs) till Chhath Puja this year.

A total of 36,59,000 additional berths were made available for the festival demand by running an additional 2,614 rounds during Chhath, Diwali and Puja.

He also congratulated Chhath Puja.

"I wish everyone a Happy Chhath Puja," the Union Minister said.

Chhath Puja is one of the most auspicious festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The four-day long festival begins with the ritual of 'Nahai Khai' and ends with 'Usha Arghya' (prayer to the rising sun).

People worship the Sun God during the festival, which will be celebrated between October 28-31 this year.

The festival is dedicated to the Sun God (Sun God), who is believed by the people to sustain life on earth.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Railways issued an official statement, stating that Indian Railways will run an additional 32 special services during this festive season to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for passengers.

Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country on rail routes like Darbhanga, Azamgarh, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Ferozepur, Patna, Katihar and Amritsar.
