According to news agency PTI, the finance ministry has started consultations with stakeholders for the budget for 2023-24 and has sought suggestions from industry and trade associations regarding direct and indirect taxes.
The deadline for sending suggestions for duty structure, rate changes and expansion of the tax base on both direct and indirect taxes is November 5.
"The industry is also required to submit justification for its demand, which, if found with merit, may form part of the Union Budget for 2023-24 (April-March), which will be presented to the Parliament on February 1, 2023. will be introduced," the ministry said in an official statement.
"With reference to the formulation of the proposals for the Union Budget for 2023-24, the Ministry of Finance would like to benefit from the suggestions and views of your Association," the ministry said.
This will be the fifth budget of the Narendra Modi 2.0 government and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the last full budget before the general elections to be held in April-May 2024.
