On the last day of the Bharat Jodi Yatra in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said his family has an old ties with the state as it reminded him that his grandmother and mother had won important elections from here.


Covering a distance of more than 500 km in Karnataka, he thanked the people for their support, love and strength.


He said, "My family has old ties with Karnataka. I can never forget that you (people) made (former PM) Indira Gandhi win from Chikkamagaluru (in 1978). I also cannot forget that you gave victory to Sonia Gandhi in Bellary. 1999)," Gandhi said.

During his visit to Telangana, the former Congress president will walk through Makthal, Narayanpet, Kodangal, Pargi, Vikarabad, Sadashivpet, Shankarampet and Madur for 16 days, covering a distance of 376 km, before entering Maharashtra from Nanded district.


The nationwide foot march entered the state at Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district on 30 September and after covering several districts, it was in neighboring Andhra Pradesh for three days from 18 October. The Yatra re-entered Karnataka at Raichur on 21 October.


Alleging that BJP and RSS have spread hatred and violence in the country, Gandhi said, "They have created rift between brothers, they have tried to divide India. Hence, we started this Bharat Jodi Yatra. Is."


According to the Wayanad MP, the purpose of his 'Bharat Jodi Yatra' is to unite the country against the "divisive forces" who are "spreading hatred" in the country.
