While Airtel has rolled out its NSA (non-standalone) '5G Plus' service in eight cities, Jio is conducting 5G trials in key areas and is expected to officially launch the network around Diwali this month.
However, many users with 5G ready devices in these supported Tier-I regions are yet to access 5G on their phones. The reason for this is a software-oriented lock on the phones which prevents them from accessing the 5G network. Such locks are often put on devices at launch when the relevant features are not yet available. Brands usually roll out updates to remove the locks.
Many major brands with 5G support are yet to release such updates to enable 5G usage. These include Apple, Samsung and OnePlus, among others. But as per the detailed list of Airtel, other mobiles like Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo seem to be ready for the network.

Apple
The entire lineup of 5G-supporting Apple iPhones is yet to receive the update, which means that all 5G-capable iPhones in India are currently stuck on 4G networks. This includes the full lineup of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series as well as the iPhone SE 2022 (Gen-3).
Apple has said in a statement that the company is working on the update, and plans to launch it in India by December, which means iPhone users will likely use 5G for about two months after the launch of the next generation network. will not be able to use.

OnePlus phones that require a software update to use 5G are: OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus Nord 2, and OnePlus 9R. Other OnePlus devices support 5G immediately.
In Google's range of Pixel phones, the only 5G-capable Pixel to launch in India is the Pixel 6a, which was made available earlier this year. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro launched earlier this month will also support 5G. Many 5G smartphones from Motorola are waiting for updates to be ready for 5G. Motorola has revealed that it has started rolling out its 5G updates for some phones and others will get the update by November 5 this year.

Meanwhile, some 5G phones from manufacturers like Asus, Honor, LG, Nokia and Tecno have no official statement as to when the 5G updates will be rolling out for the supported phones.
