The operation is the latest US effort to crack down on IS jihadists, who have been defeated regionally but are still planning attacks in Syria and neighboring Iraq.
The attack came on the same day that Centcom said it had killed another senior IS official in a raid in Syria.

"US forces conducted a successful air strike in northern Syria, killing Syrian deputy Wali Abu-Hasham al-Umawi and another senior ISIS officer associated with him," CENTCOM said in a statement.
"No US troops were injured or killed in the conduct of this operation and there was no loss or damage to US equipment," it said.
