 Pilot killed in Army Cheetah helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh


According to the Indian Army, the Cheetah helicopter was on a regular flight with two pilots.




New Delhi/Guwahati:


A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army crashed in Arunachal Pradesh this morning, killing one pilot and injuring another. He said that the aviation helicopter of the army crashed in the forward area near Tawang at around 10 am.


The Cheetah helicopter was on a regular flight with two pilots. The army said both were taken to a nearby military hospital, but Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured, died during treatment. The co-pilot is undergoing treatment.


"The cause of the accident is not known at this stage. The details are being ascertained," an army statement said.


Another Cheetah helicopter of the Army had crashed near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in March this year. The pilot was killed, while the co-pilot was seriously injured.


Late last year. Former Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat died in an IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu. Apart from him, his wife and 12 others also died in the December accident.
