Maharashtra: Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, who is trapped in the Patra rice scam case, has not got any relief even today. A special court in Mumbai has extended Raut's judicial custody till October 10. Along with this, his bail plea will now be heard on October 10.

It is worth noting that even before this, on September 19, the court had extended the judicial custody of Sanjay Raut for 14 days. Let us tell you that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was arrested by the ED on August 1 in the Patra Chal scam case. Since then he is in jail. And today again due to the extension of judicial custody, he will remain in jail even on Dussehra.

What is Patra Chal scam case?

In 2007, more than 500 families lived in a tin chawl on one land. Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority signed an agreement with Guru Ashish Construction Company (GACPL) to build a flat here. According to the agreement with this company, 3,000 flats were to be built on this land.

Out of this, 672 flats were to be given to the people living in the chawl there. It was clearly stated in the agreement that the company building the flat here would not have the right to sell this land. But it is alleged that the company, in violation of the agreement, sold this land to nine different builders for 1,034 crores. The company sold the land but not a single flat was built.

The land was sold in pieces for Rs 1,034 crore

The ED has alleged that the company did not redevelop the site and sold the land to other builders for Rs 1,034 crore and started its own project. The ED said that Praveen Raut, a close aide of Sanjay Raut and other directors of Guru Ashish Construction, misled Mahada. Sanjay Raut's bail plea, on the other hand, states that Sanjay Raut is "in no way associated with Guru Ashish Construction, HDIL or Patra Chaal".
