HCLTech will increase its presence in Mexico; To hire 1300 employees in the next 2 years

The new center in Guadalajara will enable the company to serve its local and international customer base across industries

HCLTech on Saturday announced plans to expand its operations in Mexico by opening a new technology center in the city of Guadalajara and hiring 1,300 employees over the next two years, amid high levels of concern.

The new center in Guadalajara will enable the company to serve its local and international customer base across industries. It will be the sixth technology center in Mexico and will focus on creating the next generation of digital solutions. In line with the company's hybrid operating model, the new entity will adopt an agile workplace, the IT major said in a press release.

HCLTech is one of the top Indian companies that has been battling high attrition rates in the last few quarters. The profit margins of HCLTech's services business came under pressure in Q1 of FY23, when the attrition rate rose to 23.8 per cent from 21.9 per cent in the previous quarter.

While reporting the Q1FY23 results, the company's management had said that it is "expected to remain high in the coming months." Management indicated that the company is accelerating hiring in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Romania, Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil.

“We are fortunate to have strong partnerships with our customers and partners as we remain committed to expanding in Mexico,” said Ajay Behl, Corporate Vice President of Americas and Executive Sponsor, Mexico, HCLTech. “This strong network with the local ecosystem – coupled with our investments in state-of-the-art distribution centers and a talented workforce – powers our mission of supercharging progress with technological breakthroughs for industry and the region.”

The announcement comes days after the IT firm announced expansion plans in Brazil, indicating a focus on its near-term strategy to serve key markets, including the US.

HCLTech established its first Mexican office in Guadalajara in 2008 and now employs 2,400 people at its centers in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey. The company recently announced a digital transformation partnership with global building materials company Cemex and an integrated IT services partnership with business consulting firm Neoris.

Pablo Gallegos, Country Head, Mexico, HCLTech, said, “By providing differentiated services and solutions to our customers, HCLTech is committed to becoming the digital partner of choice for enterprises operating in Mexico and around the world. We are also committed to developing local talent through our training programs and academic partnerships in the region.”
