New Delhi [India], Oct 11 (ANI): Army Wives Welfare Association has started providing comprehensive preventive and curative care on lifestyle diseases to all serving and retired personnel.

Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) President Archana Pandey on Tuesday inaugurated an integrated facility, aptly named "Sanjeevani - Lifestyle Clinic", in the national capital.


"It will provide advice on diet, exercise and behavioral counseling to all serving and retired personnel and their dependents to provide comprehensive preventive and curative care on lifestyle diseases," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

With increasing lifestyle changes, diseases like obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes are increasing in the Indian population. Members of the armed forces are no exception and show similar trends.

These non-communicable diseases are preventable and can be managed using multidisciplinary and non-pharmacological approaches.

“Sanjeevani – Lifestyle Clinic” aims to make Armed Forces personnel and dependents aware of lifestyle disorders, prevention and management of chronic disorders like diabetes, hypertension and obesity etc., through diet without pharmacological intervention. Promoting a healthy lifestyle. Education, exercise and positive motivation.

“The Lifestyle Disease Clinic team will consist of a dietician, physical trainer and counselor who have expertise in their respective fields. An automated device called "Health Kiosk" has also been installed in the clinic to record the anthropometric parameters at baseline and follow-up to track the progress made over time, the ministry said.

This unique initiative of the Indian Army will promote a healthy lifestyle as a method of preventive health care, and ensure safe and drug-free therapy to address various metabolic disorders. This initiative will bring about a positive change in the quality of life and confidence of the affected serving servicemen, ex-servicemen and their families.
